Souled Out 2: Nachamu

August 16, 2024

The question is asked, how can we transition so quickly from the mourning of Tisha B’av to the joy of Nachamu?

Let’s consider a modern-day analogy. Picture a man delivering a speech. As he turns to reference a chart, a bullet suddenly grazes his ear! In that moment, he realizes with profound clarity that Hashem kept him alive, that Hashem wants him to live!

On Tisha B’av, we grieve the catastrophic loss of the Beis Hamikdash. But perhaps the comfort of Nachamu lies in recognizing that ‘the bullet’—the devastation—was not aimed at us directly. Instead, the Holy Temple, עצים ואבנים, was sacrificed in our stead, a powerful testament to Hashem’s enduring love and eternal protection.

Yes—Hashem wants us to live. In fact, Hashem wants us!

Nachamu, Nachamu Ami!
